My favourite - The Violin Man

Front cover The Violin Man

My personal favourite from this years shortlisted awards is The violin man, written and illustrated by Colin Thompson. Nominated for Picture Book of the Year, the story is about an elderly man, Oscar who every night plays his violin outside the front of a theatre. As Oscar plays he thinks about his daughter who would when young, dance as he played....

Beautifully illustrated this is the first of Colin Thompson's books to be illustrated by computer! And if you've taken a look at not only this book, (The violin man) but any of the other picture books written and illustrated by Colin Thompson, you would never guess that he's colour blind!

Colin Thompson - Author and illustrator logo Visit Colin Thompsons webpage, containing biographical information, details on how he draw's by computer, upcoming books, and download some fantastic pictures from some his books and set them as desktop theme, they're fantastic!

Other picture story books by Colin Thompson

The Paperbag Prince, Pictures Of Home, Looking For Atlantis, Ruby, How To Live Forever, The Tower To The Sun, The Paradise Garden, The Last Alchemist, Falling Angels, The Violin Man.

The violin man is my favourite this year, let me know what's yours.

*Permission to publish The violin man front cover given by the author Colin Thompson
