Celebrations: A Social Studies Resource Guide for Elementary Teachers:- Project information: Teacher education students completed these mini-units as part of a course entitled "Teaching Social Studies." Each student was assigned a topic related to celebrations to research and develop. The following big understandings were adopted to span the variety of mini-units that were developed. This site contains lesson plans and activities covering all major celebrations.

Holidays all over the world provide a meaningful theme for student reading, writing, and researching. Students can share their own experiences and knowledge, and learn about other people, places, and customs. This unit is also an opportunity to address diversity and culture.

Holiday Celebrations:- A webQuest for first grade focusing on Social Studies and Language Arts. You are going to learn about four holidays that are celebrated in December. You are going to choose a few important ideas from each holiday and create your own holiday that everyone can celebrate!
